Mayor Eric Papenfuse joined local entrepreneurs Friday, to cut the ribbon officially marking the open of St@rtup in midtown Harrisburg.

The cooperative space along 3rd Street allows small business owners and entrepreneurs to share a common office space.  It boasts more than 7,000-square-feet of space, as well as a variety of affordable membership options for new businesses, all in an effort to help reduce overhead.

"Just by ourselves, it gets really, really expensive," said Adam Porter, co-founder of St@rtup.  "If we just share it, it's a whole lot more affordable.   And it's not just the affordability, it's the interaction, the conversations you have that you wouldn't have otherwise."

Along with the new space, the Mayor also unveiled a mural that spans the entire side of the building.  The piece, entitled "Wellspring," was created by internationally renowned artist Crystal Wagner.  It took nearly a week to paint.
