Ex-Attorney General Kathleen Kane was sentenced to 10-to-23 months on Monday, Oct. 24.
Kane resigned in August after she was convicted of multiple felonies. Halfway through her first-term, the Philadelphia Inquirer ran a story about Kane’s decision to shut down a probe into Philadelphia Democrats caught in a sting of accepting local bribes.
Kane proceeded to leak sealed, confidential grand jury documents, an investigation revealed. Even Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf urged Kane to resign, despite her denial of any wrongdoing.
A jury in August found Kane guilty of felony counts of perjury and obstruction. She resigned the same week. Wolf nominated Bruce Beemer, a former Kane deputy who testified against her, to become attorney general.
