HARRISBURG, PA – Lenora M. Smith, former Vice President of Harrisburg City Council, prominent attorney and friend, passed away this morning, October 28, 2016.

“This is a great loss for the City of Harrisburg,” says Mayor Eric Papenfuse. “Lenora Smith was a friend, confidant, political adviser and a trusted public servant,” he said.

Lenora answered the call to serve the city and the region through her service on the Capital Area Transportation Board of Directors beginning in January of 2014. She was appointed by Mayor Eric Papenfuse and confirmed by Harrisburg City Council. She served on the board until her passing. She also served as a member of the Administrative Committee for the Mayor’s Transition Team.

Lenora had practiced private law since 1982. Most recently, her office was located on North Front, Harrisburg.

Over the years, Lenora has served the public as Chief Counsel of the PA Department of the Auditor General, Assistant Attorney General for the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs at the PA Department of State and was a Domestic Relations/Business Law Instructor at Harrisburg Area Community College.

“Lenora was a fierce advocate for the public and her presence in the political discourse of Harrisburg will be sorely missed,” Mayor said.
