UPPER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY–A Millersburg woman is accused of stealing over $30,000 from a Dauphin County church where she served as treasurer.

Deborah Meck, 55, is charged by theft by unlawful taking and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received. Meck was arraigned on October 26.

The funds were stolen from Salem Lutheran Church along the 100 block of Etzweiller Road in Upper Paxton Township between January 2015 and October 2016, according to state police reports.

Investigators say Meck failed to deposit thousands of dollars’ worth of church funds totaling $30,774.72 into the treasury account.   The missing funds were discovered after the church conducted an audit.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 30.
