CUMBERLAND TOWNSHIP, ADAMS COUNTY, PA.  — Police are investigating a joy ride gone wrong after a man is seriously injured following an ATV crash.

Just after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday,  police responded to the Battlefield Resort along the 1900 block of Emmitsburg Road for a fall victim.

Police say four people took a rental golf cart for a joy ride to a convenience store in Gettysburg Borough to buy cigarettes. Police say that on the way back to the resort, one person was seriously injured when he fell off the back of the cart, hitting his head on the pavement.

The man was flown from Gettysburg Hospital to York Hospital for treatment. It is suspected that alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, according to police.

Anyone with information on the accident is asked to contact the Cumberland Township Police Department at (717) 334-6485.
