One dead four others injured in three vehicle crash near Carlisle

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. – A 78 year old Mechanicsburg man was killed in a crash involving three vehicles Wednesday morning. It happened at about 9:34 a.m. at the intersection of Ritner Highway(Route 11) and Burnt House Road in West Pennsboro Township.

Pennsylvania State Police say a vehicle driven by a 19 year old Newville man with his 3 year old son as a passenger, were traveling west on Burnt House Road when for unknown reasons went through the stop sign on Ritner Highway and into the path of  a northbound vehicle driven by a 31 year old Carlisle woman, who was with her 4 year old daughter.

A third vehicle, driven by the Mechanicsburg man and traveling southbound on Ritner Highway slammed into one the vehicles in the initial collision.  The unidentified driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19 year old driver of the first vehicle and his son suffered minor injuries. Police the toddler was flown to the hospital for cautionary reasons.  The Carlisle woman and child also suffered minor injuries.
