YORK, Pa.-- Many times, needy families often turn to what can be a dangerous heat source to stay warm during the winter.

There are a number of families in need of safe heating. 1 in 10 York County households live below the poverty line and many forgo replacing a broken or inefficient heating system in their home in order to cover other expenses. Some turn to improvised heat sources, such as using ovens or stovetops to heat homes. That can have deadly consequences.

To help in the cause, Shipley Energy and the United Way of York County have teamed up for a program that will provide a brand new heating system to an area family in need. You are able to nominate a family in need through the end of November by visiting Shipley Energy's site here.

David Smith from the HVAC team at Shipley Energy is stopping by the set to offer more information on the "Warm Hearts, Warm Home" program.
