COLUMBIA BOROUGH, LANCASTER COUNTY–A Columbia man was arrested Friday after becoming violent with police while they responded to a domestic dispute in Lancaster County.

Joseph William Rineer, 52, is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Walnut Street in Columbia Borough for a reported domestic disturbance on Friday evening. The caller told police that Rineer was going to be violent and he was going to “go out with a bang.”

According to police, Rineer charged at responding officers–knocking one of them off of the porch and onto the sidewalk. Rineer attempted to push another officer and resisted while being handcuffed. During the scuffle, a police radio was damaged and one of the officers sustained minor injures.

Rineer was arraigned and taken to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 7.
