HARRISBURG, Pa. - Folks got a chance to shop with some cops, Saturday!

Chief Thomas Carter, Sheriff Nick Chimienti Jr., and several other law enforcement officers joined together for a special day of mentoring the youth of the Harrisburg Police Athletic League.

HPAL members shopped for their loved ones at the Wal-Mart on Grayson Road with generous donations of gift cards from the Wal-Mart Foundation.

This is the 5th annual 'shop with cops' event.

Officers say it's a great way to build relationships and bring understanding about the complexity of being an officer of the law and the challenge of being a youth in today's world.

Capt. Deric Moody of the Harrisburg Police force says, "It's a great feeling, you know policing is usually tends to be portrayed one side, you just get to see one side of police officers job but there's so many pieces to our job and this is one of our opportunities to showcase we are people too."

HPAL members say the 'shop with cops' event is the absolute highlight of their entire year!
