Armed fugitive arrested at Dauphin County motel

Lower Swatara Township, Dauphin County, PA – Police called to a local motel this morning for a report of a man with a gun ended up arresting a fugitive from Virginia. Around 8:54 a.m.,  Lower Swatara Police responded to the Congress Inn on Eisenhower Blvd.  The call initially came into the motel desk clerk, who in turn called the police department.

Officers discovered the person in the room was Mustafa Kousmat and he was wanted out of Fairfax, Virginia on  several charges: Abduction by Force, Robbery, Pointing/Brandishing a Firearm and Assault and Battery for an incident that occurred on November 3, 2016. The subject was noted to be considered armed and dangerous.

Lower Swatara Township Police, assisted by Officers from Middletown and Swatara Township took the subject into custody around 10:15 a.m., when he left his room to warm up his car.

Kousmat, 28, was arrested and was transported to Dauphin County Central Booking for arraignment. Fairfax will be extraditing Kousmat back to Virginia on the listed charges.

There were no injuries to any of the officers, Kousmat or his female companion.
