HARRISBURG, Pa.,-- This winter, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is reminding visitors of the fun activities the state's parks and forests have to offer visitors during the winter months.

According to DCNR, visitors can enjoy the hiking trails throughout the entire year, including over the winter. If the weather permits, officials say there are also opportunities in many of the parks for visitors to enjoy ice skating, ice fishing and ice boating.

In addition, when it snows, many of the parks allow visitors to go sledding, snowmobiling and ATV riding. If visitors plan to go snowmobiling or ATV riding, DCNR requires drivers to make sure their vehicle is registered with DCNR's snowmobile ATV unit.

You can visit http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us to find out more about state park ice conditions and snow depths. For a full list of scheduled activities happening at various state parks and forests, visit http://www.getoutdoorspa.state.pa.us.
