YORK, Pa.– In honor of “Wreaths Across America Day,” the American Gold Star Mothers held an event in York today. The organization is made up of moms who have lost a son or daughter in service to our country. They say this time of the year is especially hard on them and their families.

“It’s a very emotional thing to see the wreath laying there. It reminds me my son isn’t coming home for Christmas,” said Gold Star Mother Cher Kondor, who lost her son Spc. Martin Kondor in Iraq in 2004.

The American Gold Star Mothers organization was established in 1928. It continues to be the leading support organization for mothers who are dealing with the loss of a military son or daughter.
