YORK TOWNSHIP, York County, Pa.-- The York Jewish Community Center held a superhero themed Hanukkah celebration on Sunday. Visitors at the JCC were treated to an afternoon of learning about the heroes of Hanukkah, while children took part in activities that tested their strength, speed and agility.

Program Director William Walter says, "We're excited to open our doors to the entire community, not just Jewish kids. We also get a lot of non-Jewish kids that come here as well."

Hanukkah, the Jewish celebration of re-dedication, also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day festival beginning on the 25th of the Jewish month of Kislev, which falls on the same day as Christmas this year.
