CONEWAGO TWP., Pa. - People could soon be paying when it rains in Conewago Township, Adams County.  Township supervisors say they have been trying to come up with a solution to cover the cost of complying with federal guidelines on storm water runoff. The bill could fall on the taxpayers.

The DEP notified the supervisors that they need to apply for a storm water permit. The application must outline how the supervisors plan to comply with federal regulations. Complying comes at a cost of around $500,000 a year.

"It's always upsetting to have to pay more but what are you gonna do? There's these regulations. The Township has come up with the money. What are you gonna do," said resident Patricia Rosner.

The supervisors say they divided $500,000 by square foot of impervious land and came up with $80.00 per parcel. No one will be exempt from paying the fee.
The fee would go into effect in January. The Township will break up the bills so people are not hit with the $80.00 right away.
