DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — With the holidays right around the corner some people are in an extra giving mood, and thanks to an extra giving family the Lower Paxton Township Police Department got a very special gift this season.

A family in the township anonymously donated $5,000 to the Police Department.  The donors said that they thought the Police Department is great and that they are tired of seeing such negative press about law enforcement in general.  The donors also said they realize how difficult it is to work in law enforcement and they wanted to do something to show their appreciation for what the Police Department does on a daily basis.

“I was stunned to receive such a generous and heartfelt contribution.  We plan on using the donation to help fund a planned Youth Forensics Academy and to  promote the health and welfare of our staff,” said Dave Spotts, Director of Public Safety, in a statement he released about the donation.

“To our ‘Secret Santa,’ on behalf of the entire LPPD, I extend our sincere thanks for this unexpected, but greatly appreciated, donation.  To all our citizens, I wish you happiness and safety this Christmas and always,” said Spotts.
