House and senate pass a budget plan that Gov. Corbett will not sign

The Pennsylvania Senate Communications & Technology Committee held a public hearing on the implementation of the federal Act, known as REAL ID.

The act requires states to comply with federal guidelines, specifically in its issuance of state, government-issued driver’s licenses and IDs.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania was granted an extension to roll out its compliance with the federal law. As of now, Pennsylvanians’ driver’s licenses will be accepted at airlines, federal buildings and nuclear power plants until June 6.

This is a developing story.
