GREENE TOWNSHIP, FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — A PennDOT contractor was killed when he was struck by a tractor-trailer while working on Interstate-81 on Friday night.

According to State Police SPokesperon Tpr. Brent Miller, Michael J. Friendy, 41, of Hazelton, was actively setting up a construction zone on I-81 in Franklin County when he was struck by a 1998 GMC Jimmy.

The crash occurred shortly before 9:15 Friday night, near mile marker 19.8, in Green Township.

Friendy was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police are investigating into what caused the crash.
