EAST MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP,  YORK COUNTY, Pa. --  Hundreds of families and caregivers gathered in at Leg up Farm in York County on Saturday for Wellspan York Hospitals yearly Neonatal Intensive care unit reunion.

The event offers a place for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit families to catch up and speak with those who helped care for their loved ones during a time of need.

Members of the Wellspan York NICU Parent Support Group were also there to support families.

People who went, took part in family-friendly activities including caricature artists, face painting and games.

Hospital staff say the one thing they look forward to each year is reconnecting with the families they once cared for.

"When family members come up and all they want to do is give you a hug and say thank you for taking care of my baby. It makes you know that what you've done for your life long work is work well done. It's very rewarding and very special," said Debi McNamara, nurse manager of the NICU at York Hospital.

The annual event has been going on more than 25 years.
