HARRISBURG — A 24-year-old Harrisburg man was charged with endangering the welfare of children after leaving a 3- and 4-year-old unattended, according to Swatara Township police.

Devine Davis was charged after police found the 3-year-old wandering through the neighborhood on the 6100 block of Somerset Street, police say. The child was on the street alone for about an hour. Residents of the neighborhood first saw the child wandering around noon, police say. The neighbors did not recognize the child, and called police around 12:26 p.m.

The child, a male toddler, had a severely soiled diaper when police found him. After finding the child, police spent 30 minutes attempting to locate his parents. Davis allegedly approached police and admitted he was the child’s father. He told police he was preparing lunch in his back yard, and the child wandered off.

When police went to Davis’ home, they found a camper in the back yard. A 4-year-old child was left unattended in the camper, police say.
