YORK COUNTY, Pa.– UPDATE: Multiple people have been taken into custody after a police-involved shooting in York City.

On February 19 around 10:50 p.m., police were dispatched to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Jefferson Ave. and Smith St. earlier in the evening.

During the investigation, police found that a York City Police Officer observed a stolen vehicle with multiple passengers inside and attempted to stop it.

The passengers inside the vehicle saw the officer and fled on foot, eluding the officer.

After returning to the stolen vehicle’s location, the officer noticed a different vehicle at the scene.

The new vehicle also attempted to flee the scene, and almost struck the police officer in the process.

While attempting to stop the vehicle, the officer fired his gun several times, striking it several times.

The vehicle did stop, and the occupants were taken into custody uninjured from the gun fire.

State Police are investigating the incident.

PREVIOUSLY: Police are investigating a report of shots fired in York City, according to York County dispatch.

Police were in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Smith Street and an officer told FOX43 that he did fire his gun.

There are no known victims at this time.
