SUSQUEHANNA TWP., Dauphin County — UPDATE: A Harrisburg man died as the result of a crash on Interstate 81 on Thursday.

Jeffrey Samuels, 55, was driving when a potential medical issue occurred, causing his vehicle to leave the left-hand lane of travel.

Samuels’ Saturn Vue traveled approximately 1600 feet before striking the Cameron St. overpass, which caused the vehicle to roll over onto its driver’s side.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Samuels’ official cause of death is currently under investigation.

PREVIOUSLY: Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 81.

The crash occurred at mile marker 68.0 southbound just after 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police say an SUV struck a bridge and caught fire.

All lanes of I-81 South are now open.
