Bio

Melanie Orlins

Originally from Sterling, Virginia, I’m excited to finally be back on the east coast and doing what I love. I most recently came from the 2nd coldest city in the nation, Grand Forks, North Dakota, also known in my book as the “arctic tundra”. I did it all there — reporting, working behind the camera shooting and editing my own video as well as producing and solo anchoring newscasts.

My interest in TV began when I was 8 years old. My dad used to take me to watch the Today Show at Rockefeller Plaza every Christmas Eve morning. I quickly fell in love with the art of story telling.

Fast forward a few years and I was given my first opportunity at Florida State University sideline reporting as a student. Sports is a big passion of mine. You can find me glued to the TV during football season cheering on my Redskins and Seminoles. By far my favorite interview I’ve done has been with football legend Bobby Bowden.

In my spare time I LOVE to run…I racked up 4 half marathons just this past year, and am planning to run a full marathon sometime soon. I played soccer growing up and was also a gymnast.

My favorite part of my job is being able to tell other people’s stories. If you have a story that needs to be told or just some ideas, feel free to email me at morlins@tribune.com or follow me on Facebook at facebook.com/melanieorlinsfox43 or on twitter @Mel_Orlins.
