All Westbound lanes of travel have been reopened after being shut down for several hours this morning after an accident. Crews have cleaned up the road and traffic is moving again.

The left lane of travel is now open on the Westbound side of the Susquehanna River Bridge after this morning’s accident.

Crews are still on scene cleaning up after the multiple vehicle crash. Traffic is still backed up and moving slowly.

Westbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike between the Harrisburg East and Harrisburg West exits have been shut down. An accident just after 9 a.m. this morning involving several cars and a tractor trailer caused major backlog.

Crews are on scene cleaning up at this time and a detour has been set up. Traffic traveling Westbound must take the Harrisburg East exit then take PA Route 283 to Interstate 83 before getting back on at the Harrisburg West exit.

Turnpike officials do not know at this time how long the highway will be closed. WPMT Fox43 will bring updates as they become available.
