State Police in York have released additional information on last night’s homicide and suicide in Washington Township. The couple’s son called in the shooting after going to their home to check on them.

After investigation, police discovered that 84-year old Jeanette Brown was terminally ill with cancer and her condition was rapidly deteriorating. As Jeanette slept, her 85-year old husband Sherman Brown fired one round from a rifle, killing his wife in her sleep.

Sherman then sat next to the bed and shot himself. The couple had been married for 65 years.

The York County Coroner has identified the two people killed in last night’s apparent murder-suicide in Washington Township. The homicide victim was Jeanette Brown and her husband, Sherman Brown, has been identified as the other victim.

The couple was in their 80’s and the Deputy Coroner Claude Stabley cited that there had been medical issues for the couple.

Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in York County Tuesday night in Washington Township. The York County Coroner confirmed that the victims were found inside their home along the 200 block of Bermudian Church Road at around 10:30 p.m.

The cause of death is still being investigated. State Police in York are releasing very few details about the case at this time. Fox43 will bring the latest updates as they become available.
