A body pulled from Codorus Creek in York City on Friday afternoon has been identified as that of 50-year-0ld Daniel J. Wise, according to the York County coroner’s office

His death has been ruled as an accidental drowning.

Wise’s  family told authorities that he was homeless.

His body was spotted floating in the water near the 200 block of West Philadelphia Street in York City.

It remains unclear how Wise ended up in the creek.

Investigators have identified a man who was found dead Friday afternoon in a creek in York City.

According to the York County coroner’s office, the man is 50-year-old Daniel Wise.  His body was found floating in the Codorus Creek around 12:45 p.m. near the 200 block of West Philadelphia Street.

Authorities say Wise was homeless.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.

The cause of death is unknown.

A body was found in the Codorus Creek in York City on Friday afternoon. The gruesome discovery was made around 12:45 p.m. by a fisherman along the 200 block of West Philadelphia Street, according to witnesses at the scene.

The body was found floating in about three feet of water and was fully clothed.

York City Police are currently investigating the incident.
