Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Freight Train

A Lancaster County man is dead after being hit by a freight train Tuesday evening. It happened just before 5 o’clock along Bank Avenue on the tracks behind the fire station.  The County Coroner says the man in his 20’s, was dead upon arrival at Lancaster General Hospital.  His identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.  The coroner says an autopsy will be performed on Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.

Columbia Borough Police say an Ephrata man was killed by a freight train Tuesday evening.   Just before 5 pm, Borough police discovered 28-year-old David Nolt laying on the tracks behind Columbia #1 Fire Company between Union and Locust Streets.  Nolt had been struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern train that was coming from Lancaster and  headed to Harrisburg.

Nolt died while on the way to the hospital. An autopsy Wednesday morning revealed his cause of death was from multiple traumatic injuries as a result of being hit by the train.

Person Hit by Freight Train

Police in Lancaster county say a freight train has hit an unidentified person.  It happened Tuesday evening just behind Columbia Borough Fire Station #1 along Bank Avenue.  There is no word on the condition of the victim.
