Several Sheetz gas stations in Central Pennsylvania are experiencing gas shortages. It’s attributed to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, said Sheetz spokesperson Monica Jones.

The refinery that services Sheetz stations in Pennsylvania was shut down during the storm. It’s back online, but the company is trying to catch up with the demand.

The shortages affect mostly lower grade gasoline, according to Jones.

Two stores in Carlisle were completely out of gas on Saturday evening, said Jones.

In Dauphin County, the stations near the Harrisburg Mall, on Allentown Boulevard and Linglestown Road were all out of lower-grade gasoline Sunday. The station on Derry Street had all types of fuel on hand.

A company spokeswoman said better-performing stores have been hardest hit by the shortages.

Sheetz continues to have fuel trucks out delivering gas to various locations.

There’s no word when the supply chain issues will be resolved.

Sheetz issued this statement on their company Facebook page:

“Currently, we are experiencing fuel shortages in some locations throughout Eastern & Central PA, but we are working to get supply to these stores as soon as possible.

Since Super Storm Sandy hit, the petroleum supply chain has been stressed, but to the best of our knowledge this is a brief interruption in distribution. Our stores are still open for business and customers can depend on us for all food, beverage & convenience needs.”
