A York County man is hospitalized after he was hit by a vehicle while crossing a busy roadway in Cumberland County. It happened just before 6 o’clock Thursday evening in the 3900 block of Gettysburg Road, in Lower Allen Township.
The 25 year old pedestrian from Dillsburg had been dropped off on the south side of the roadway and was attempting to cross to the north side to visit friends.
As he was crossing he was struck by a west bound vehicle driven by a 21 year old Hampden Township woman. She did stop after hitting the victim and is cooperating with police.
The unidentified victim suffered serious injuries to his legs and chest. He was flown by Life Lion to Hershey Medical Center for treatment. Lower Allen EMS, West Shore Advanced Life Support and the Lower Allen Fire Company assisted at the scene.
Gettysburg Road between St. Johns Road and Slate Hill Road were closed for several hours while the Lower Allen Township Police and the Cumberland County Accident Reconstruction team continued their investigation.
