A Lancaster County woman has been arrested after police say she stole more than $25,000 from Tyson Foods over a four-year period. Officers were alerted to the theft on Nov. 26 when auditors with Tyson Foods, located at 403 S. Custer Avenue in New Holland,  discovered the discrepancies in payroll.

Debra Rottmund, 58, of Lancaster, later confessed to police that she stole the money while  employed as a payroll clerk from December 2008 to November 2012.

Rottmund issued checks to herself for vacation hours that she wasn’t entitled to then deposited the checks into her personal bank account, police said.

The total amount Rottmund stole was $25,771. 07.

Rottmund turned herself into police on Friday and was released on $25,000 bail.

She is charged with theft by unlawful taking.
