For hundreds of kids who’ve lived with an illness or suffered a devastating injury, Sunday provided them a chance to let go of all of that for a few hours and enjoy the holiday season.

The Hershey/Palmyra Sertoma Club hosted its annual Christmas party in Hershey, Dauphin County. Kids had a chance to talk with Santa, pick up some presents and enjoy music and dancing with friends and family.

“Our volunteers appreciate this as much if not more than the actual children that are here. I look forward to this because it’s one of those warm, giving back things that you can experience in your lifetime,” said Jacob Ensminger, who chairs the event.

The Bingaman family from Greencastle, Franklin County, was among the party’s attendees. Madyson, 10, has been in and out of the hospital for years after being hit by a shuttle bus when she was learning to ride her bike.

“It’s very peaceful and relaxing to know they do stuff for kids like this who’ve been through so much,” said her mom, Serena Bingaman.

The Sertoma club has hosted the event for more than 25 years. To learn more about the club, click here.
