The Adams County SPCA is taking precautions after a stray dog infected with parvo dies after spending a few days at the shelter. Herbie was brought to the shelter on November 14*th. On Saturday he was rushed to the vet, but was too sick to be saved. As a precaution, the Adams County SPCA is temporarily closed to the public unitl further notice.
All dogs were tested today for parvo, which is a highly contagious virus that is often fatal. Humans cannot contract the disease. The dogs are now stuck in their kennels until the test results come back.
