Gay marriage became legal today in Washington State and Maryland.  Hours after the law legalizing same sex marriage went into effect, gay and lesbian couples began lining up outside county offices for their legal paperwork. Once couples have those licenses, they must wait 3 days before they can wed.  Washington lawmakers approved the legalization of same sex marriage last year but the law was put up for a referendum vote in the november election- and was approved by voters.
