Franklin County District Attorney Matthew Fogal will seek the death penalty for Carl Varner. Varner, 54, and 38-year old Jason Shauf were charged in October for the murder of 29-year old Victor Hugo Campos-Olguin in Chambersburg.
The shooting led to two different standoffs with police that lasted several hours. Varner has a history of felony convictions and District Attorney Fogal requests Varner be sentenced to death.
There is a mandatory arraignment scheduled for this afternoon before the Honorable Carol L. Van Horn.
