PennDOT District 8 today at 10:30 a.m. mobilized crews, ahead of schedule, on the Interstate 81 George N. Wade Memorial Bridge to begin removing the I-81 North ramp restrictions to Front Street near Harrisburg. The contractor began work this morning and expects to have them open to traffic early this evening. This work has been moved ahead due to forecasted inclement weather for this evening into Friday morning.

PennDOT advises motorists traveling I-81 North that they may encounter lane and shoulder restrictions as crews remove barrier and signs in order to reopen the ramps to traffic.

The I-81 North ramps to Front Street have been closed for repairs since Oct. 6. The contractor will keep these ramps open during the winter months and will close them again next April in order to complete the concrete repair work and the painting operation.
