A week after the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre, a Central Pennsylvania man is helping organize a candlelight protest for sensible gun laws.  Stan Hough of Springettsbury Township, York County will be in Washington DC on December 30th at 8p.m. Eastern Standard Time to lead a rally in Lafayette Park, which sits directly across the street from the White House.  So far 1,000 people on facebook have committed to join him.  Many others across the nation plan to hold local rallies at the exact same time.

“We’re not talking about taking away people’s handguns or people’s hunting rifles,” said Hough.  “That’s not what this is about. This is about three things: banning military assault weapons; closing the loophole on online and gun show sales, which accounts for 40 percent of the guns sold in this country; and eliminating high capacity clips.”

Hough initially planned to walk in protest from York to DC.  However, he felt a nationwide candlelight protest would have a greater impact.
