The parents of a 39-year-old freelance journalist have announced their son is missing in Syria.

James Foley was captured by unknown gunmen in northwest Syria on November 22nd, 2012. His parents have set up a website, hoping to get in contact with his captors.

At a press conference Thursday, James’ father John said “We’re gravely concerned about Jimmy’s health and welfare, his safety. We miss him terribly. And we’re committed to doing everything within our ability to secure his safe release, and this is our only priority.”

This isn’t the first time Foley has been captured. He and another journalist were kidnapped by government forces while covering the Libyan uprising in 2011. They were both released six weeks later.
