A woman is facing criminal charges after leaving a 20 day old infant unattended in a car while she shopped at Wal-Mart in Cumberland County. Nataliya Mykolaivna Ward, 29, of Enola, was arrested on Friday afternoon in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Silver Spring Township. Police found Ward’s black BMW parked across three parking spaces with a baby laying on the floor, wrapped in a blanket.
When Ward came out of the store she was confronted by police. She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and leaving a child unattended in a vehicle.
It is unclear how long the baby was left alone. Ward is the mother of the child, according to police reports.
Cumberland County Children and Youth Services was contacted.
