A North York club owner is facing charges after selling alcohol without a liquor license. Charges were filed on Jan. 3 against Joel Weinstein, owner of Club XS, located along the first block of West 11th Avenue.
Weinstein lost his liquor license in February 2012 after the Commonwealth Court ruled in favor of the state Liquor Control Board’s 2010 decision not to renew the club’s license.
The LCB decided not to renew the nightclub’s license in 2010, citing several fights and a shooting outside of the club.
In August of 2012 the court ruled that Club XS did not take timely measures to increase its security, which could have prevented the shooting.
