Burglars fail to cover their tracks in Swatara Township

To find the culprits of a New Year’s Day burglary on Penn Street, investigators only had to follow footprints in the snow. The victim called police, reporting someone had broken in and taken two television sets, an Ipad, and a Nexus tablet. Officers saw footprints in the snow leading to a neighbor’s home. As a result, they obtained a search warrant for that house and recovered the stolen property.

Three adults and one 17 year-old juvenile were charged as a result of the investigation. The adults, Phillip A. Woods, 19, of Highspire, Aaron C. Bryants, 20, of Harrisburg, and Ashley C. Smith, 20, also of Harrisburg are charged with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking, Criminal Conspiracy and Corruption of minors. The juvenile is charged with Burglary, Theft by Unlawful Taking and Criminal Conspiracy.

All three adults are still at large. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Swatara Township Police Department at 717-564-2550.
