BETTER TODAY: Well, yesterday’s forecast was a disaster. Thicker clouds, evaporative cooling, and rain destroyed any hopes of nailing the high and the feel of the day. Not handled well by the models or the meteorologist! Today is much different story. High pressure slips in for a day and brings us some sunshine with some cool air offsetting the temps.
Highs today will hit the middle 40s. Sunshine will filter through some high clouds through the day. Clouds will continue to thicken later in the day into the overnight hours. We’ll drop to the freezing mark overnight. It’s a dry day.
FRIDAY SHOWERS: Isolated rain is possible beginning in the morning hours Friday. However, the best chance for rain showers comes later in the day. From midday onward, scattered showers will dot the landscape. It won’t rain all afternoon, but expect an hour or two of some light to moderate rain showers. Highs will hit the mid 40s under mainly cloudy skies. Rain tapers into the evening and overnight hours.
WARM BUBBLE: The jet stream plays see-saw over the weekend. It’ll orient SW to NE over the central part of the country. While the plains and Midwest will deal with a pocket of very cold air, we’re on the other side under a large bubble of unseasonably warm air moving across the Northeast. Saturday, we hit the middle 50s easily. Sunday we’re near 60° for highs! We’re mostly cloudy all weekend.
Storms systems tend to ride along the path of the jet stream and this weekend will be no different. Saturday looks dry, but our first system rides through Sunday. The heaviest rain looks to stay well to our west, but showers are possible Sunday.
Sure enough, another system will ride along the jet Monday, with another following Tuesday. We’re keeping rain in the forecast through Tuesday, but model differences now keep us from better timing and amounts. Slowly, the warm bubble is forced east and temps fall to 50° on Monday and into the 40s by Tuesday & Wednesday. Still above average though!
