hoarder An elderly couple in Illinois died in a house fire, because they were trapped inside by clutter.

In fact, it was so bad firefighters could not even get through the front door, because it was blocked by clutter.

They ended up finding the couple in the basement.

Those who lived nearby considered the two hoarders, and said the city tried to tell them to get rid of some of their stuff before it got out of control. One of their neighbor’s Nelda Hall, said, “I just, I knew when I came out yesterday morning and both vehicles were there that they were in the house and there’s nothing we could do for them, so it’s very sad.”

Clean up from the fire is expected to last at least two days because of all the stuff left in the wreckage.
