Police are looking for two Maryland men in connection with a December 2012 robbery at a church in southern York County. The suspects, 57-year-old Victor Sorrentino and his 54-year-old brother, Gregory Sorrentino, are accused of stealing a wallet belonging to a 78 year old woman, who was attending Christmas Eve services at St. John the Baptist Catholic church in New Freedom Borough. The victim told police that she saw one of the suspects take the wallet from her purse that was sitting on a church pew.
She confronted the suspect and he shoved her backward into a wall and pew causing her to fall to the floor. She suffered injuries. Both suspects ran out of the church and were last fleeing in a green pickup truck.
A Southern York County Regional Police Detective recognized the descriptions the suspects and vehicle from previous arrests years ago. An arrest warrant has been issued for the Sorrentino brothers. Charges include Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy to commit Robbery, Simple Assault, Theft, and Receiving Stolen Property. The brothers. are believed to be somewhere in Maryland
