Returning to tranquility

QUIET PATTERN IS BACK:  After an unsettled Wednesday with snow, ice, sleet, and rain, we’re back at the quiet and calm weather we’ve become used to this winter.  Today, a system develops in the South and a cold front slides through PA from the north.  We begin in the mid to upper 30s with a westerly breeze and clouds.  We’ll top out near 40° today with the clouds lingering.  The cold front that moves through today looks to be a dry front.  We’ll be breezy with winds shifting northwesterly at 8-15mph.  Light snow will come extremely close to the PA/MD border, but as of now it looks to stay to our south for the evening.  Overnight, we begin to break the clouds.  Winds remain breezy as they push colder air into the commonwealth.  Lows hit the middle 20s.

NOT TOO SHABBY:  The next few days are looking great if you’re a fan of sunshine.  Cold air settles in for Friday along with high pressure.  Highs will only hit the low to middle 30s with a handful of clouds to go around.   Saturday, high pressure to our south nudges in and puts us into some warm flow for a day.  We’re sunny and not as chilly with highs in the middle 40s.  Sunday, we see some clouds move in ahead of a quick moving system.  It’s the leading edge of some really cold arctic air.  Highs will be in the upper 30s with a breeze kicking back in across the mid-state.

BIG TIME CHILL:  The cold air arrives late Sunday night into Monday.  An arctic blast, coldest air so far this season, is pegged to move into the Northeast for next week.  The clouds return on northwesterly flow for the first half of the week.  Monday we’re only in the upper 20s for highs and Tuesday and Wednesday feature mornings in the upper teens and afternoons in the middle 20s.  Flurries are possible Monday and Wednesday.  Hopefully you have those heavy winter coats in reach!

Have a tremendous Thursday!
