Car cold? Police say ‘warming it up’ could be risky

Police in Susquehanna Township say they’ve had two stolen car cases in less than a week, and each time the owners had left the cars running in order to warm them up. The first was last Friday, on the 2200 block of Boas Street, around 8am. The owner went back inside after starting a 2003 Cadillac and leaving the doors unlocked and the engine running. The car was later recovered in Harrisburg. This morning, a silver 2009 Ford Fusion was stolen while sitting running in the driveway of a residence in the 3500 blk of Schoolhouse Lane.  The owner had started the car and went inside his residence, and came back outside two minutes later to find it driving away.  Police are asking anyone who may have information or witnessed these incidents to contact Det Cairns at 909-9242 or email dcairns@susquehannatwp.com.   Police also would like to warn citizens against leaving a vehicle running unoccupied and out of sight at any time.
