Husband kills wife, shoots step-son in Franklin County

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg are investigating the murder and suicide that occurred last evening in Washington Township. The shooting happened in the jurisdiction of the Washington Township Police Department but the two victims had an affiliation with the department, prompting State Police to take over.

John Fleagle, 50, shot and killed his wife Cathy, 45, with a handgun in their home on Mar Pen Avenue. Fleagle also shot his step-son, 18-year old Mitchell Robinson, in the arm before taking his own life.

John Fleagle was a former police officer with the Washington Township Police Department. His wife Cathy, was a current administrator for the Washington Township Police Department.

A motive is not known at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
