Firefighters pull two people from burning apartment building in Strasburg

Firefighters rescued two people from a burning apartment building in Lancaster County early Saturday morning. Flames broke out around 2:30 a.m.  along the 100 block of Miller Street in Strasburg Borough.

A passerby saw heavy smoke coming from the third floor of the  building and called 911.

Rescue crews pulled two people out of a first floor window, according to fire officials. The victim’s were taken to a local hospital and then transferred to Chester Crozer Medical Center for treatment. Hunter Mentzer and Emily Good were listed in critical but stable condition on Saturday night.

The fire is believed to have started in a basement furnace.

A state police fire marshal is investigating.
