A Lancaster City man refused to be a victim when two men attempted to burglarize his home for a second time within a week. The homeowner grabbed a gun and confronted one of the thieves at gunpoint until police arrived. “When I came down the stairs when I saw him, the first thing I did was reach for my pistol and told him not to move,” says homeowner Franklin Abreu. He then interrogated the suspect after hearing from neighbors the same man had burglarized his home earlier in the week.

Abreu’s nephew Glenn Cabrera called police. “He called me he’s like hey listen I hear people downstairs. I think they’re downstairs call the police.”

When police arrived Jean Carlos Rivera-Gonzalez, 22, of Lancaster, was arrested and charged with burglary.

Abreu hopes this sends a message to all criminals. “That person tried to come into the house two times, so you have to stop. If someone sees the video it’s like an example. You can die in that kind of situation.”

“He just thanks God that he was smart enough to deal with the situation the way he dealt with it,” says Cabrera.

A second suspect was seen fleeing the area in a gold two-door Honda Accord. He is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male possibly in his late 20’s or early 30’s and has green eyes, police said.
