A Harrisburg man bails from the trunk of a moving car over the weekend to escape robbery suspects. The victim, a 24-year-old Uptown man, told police he was socializing at Bill’s Cafe in the 3200 block of Derry Street. He had some photographs and frames with him and decided to take them to his car. It was 12:45 Sunday morning. As he was sitting in his car, a man came up to the passenger side window and asked for a light. The victim gave him a light. Sensing something was amiss, the victim attempted to drive away.
The man suddenly put on a face mask and dove into the open passenger side window. He waved a handgun and yelled to the victim to drive off. After a short distance the victim was ordered to stop. A dar colored mini-van pulled up and a man got out and joined the first robber. They forced the victim, at gunpoint, to get into the trunk of his car.
The victim found the trunk release and opened the trunk. The victim realized that the robbers were traveling on Interstate 81 near the Bass Pro Shop. While the robbers yelled at him not to do it, the victim rolled out of the trunk and onto the roadway. He suffered numerous contusions and abrasions from the roadway surface. He was able to hail a passing motorist to stop and help him. The victim was taken Hershey Medical Center where he was treated and released.
The victim’s car was found later in Swatara Township near Penhar Drive. The victim’s wallet was found in the trunk. His cell phone and small amount of cash was missing.
Police say the robbery suspects were both black males. One was about 6 feet tall, light complexion and wore a black hooded sweatshirt. The other was also a light complected black male, heavy-set, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and also wore a black hooded sweatshirt.
