Actor Robert De Niro opened his hotel, Nobu, in Las Vegas.  He’s a partner in the project.  Nobu is a hotel within a hotel.  Instead of being built from the ground up, workers renovated the aging Centurion Tower in Ceasars Palace.  De Niro partnered with chef Nobu Matsuhisa.  They opened their first new York City restaurant in Tribeca followed by the Greenwich Hotel.

Their newest venture, Nobu, has 108 rooms which are smaller than typical Vegas hotel rooms, but they are said to be luxurious with a Japanese influence in design.  It’s also aimed at tourists who want peace rather than the chaos of Vegas.  At Nobu, there’s no lobby. Agents armed with iPads escort guests to their rooms to complete the check-in process in private.  There is also a restaurant and lounge.

De Niro says it’s the first of many Nobu hotels.

“I travel all over the country and stay in hotels as a customer,” he said. “I know which type of hotel, which service is more comfortable for me, so basically that’s the start of the Nobu Hotel concept.”
