People who live or work near the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station will be hearing the plant’s new siren system over the next 3 months.

Exelon Nuclear recently installed 97 state-of-the-art sirens within the 10-mile radius of the plant as part of a region-wide investment project. Once the new sirens are tested, the company will take down the old sirens that are currently used.

Each siren will be tested individually. Exelon says the tests will last between 30 and 60 seconds and may occur several times in a row. The company also says the new sirens will sound similar to the current ones.
